Obelisk Fortified Cherry Wine NV, Central Otago

A deep ruby and ruddy red core with a light purple rim, plenty of ink staing tears all leading to a bouquet of richness and intensity. Aromas of smoky wood and dark cherry flesh, chocolate and date ideas, clove and dried herb. On the aplate a silky smooth sensation touches first then transitions into a rush of dark red berry and cherry flesh and dark spice flavours, fine fruit and some very fine wood tannins, moderate acidity and persistent palate intensity tapering slowly into a long finish. Delicious and enticing with best drinking from opening through the next 5-10 years. Best to finsh the bottle once opened.
