Mount Edward 'Muirkirk' Pinot Noir 2022, Central Otago

An attention grabbing bouquet, power and focus, mineral, saline and fresh. Varietal too with scents of black cherry and plum, a mix of tilled soils, silty loam-like suggestion then a gentle savoury quality. Some new wood scents of clove then vanilla, a youthful intriguing wine. A dry wine touches the palate with an immediate surge of fruit then a softness and power from the tannins and acidity. Excellent mouthfeel and finesse of flowers then red berry fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet. Lengthy, youthful, poised and delicious. BEst drinking from 2029 through 2039.
