Chard Farm 'Hawkesburn' Pinot Noir 2023, Bannockburn, Central Otago

A youthful core of savoury and dried herb flavours framing red berry fruits of plum and red cherry, plenty of soil and wood spices, a taut wine with firm tannins and a backbone of acidity. Dry,, taut and youthful with baking spice, dried autumnal leaves, some floral wild rose layers and leesy complexities. As the wine relaxes in glass and becomes ambient the complexities, fruit and detail expand. Nut and spice, some wppd smoke and decent length. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2034.
