Batch Winery 'Thomas' Syrah 2024, Waiheke Island

A delicious wine, youthful and ripe, taut and dry. Core aromas and flavours of black and pink peppercorn, very ripe raspberry and blackcurrant then a dark clay and stony earth suggestion. A youthful wine with firm tannins and plenty of acidity to frame the flavours of red berries, some plum and wood spices with a smoky edge. The palate squeeze showcases the youth of this wine and means it needs cellar time or food to flesh the complexity within. Best drinking from 2027 through 2032+
