Huntress Chenin Blanc 'Puiaki' 2025, Mangatahi Terraces, Hawke's Bay

Puiaki translates to rare or precious in te Reo Maori. A bouquet of heirloom apples and wild flowers then citrus, an earth-smoke of stone and a fine leesy lead to a palate of the same. Off-dry as the wine touches the palate then a rush of acidity and minerality take the palate in a different and taut, drier direction. Intriguing and new, the flavours of pomaceous fruit with a zesty and leesy appeal off a wine of complexity and something new. Delicious, taut and fresh, a wine that will develop slowly over the next few years building complexity along the way. Best from 2030 through 2040.
