Goldie Estate '78 Series' Syrah 2019, Waiheke Island

An excellent wine with a bouquet with a freshness and concentration, layers of fresh red berries, sweet herbs, plum and violet then raspberry and boysenberry, blackcurrants and a strong seam of minerality. Dry and delicious, lots of texture and energy, polished tannins and a backbone of acidity frame fresh berry fruit flavours, a decent layer of wood and spice, pink peppercorn and flowers. Lengthy, well made and complex. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2034.
