Escarpment 'Kiwa' Pinot Noir 2023, Martinborough

A bouquet of complexity and sense of site and soil delivered through aromas of clay and stone, light through darker red berry scents, baking spices and softly spoken French oak messages. Collectively, a complex and inviting opening verse. On the palate a dry and textured wine led by acidity then polished fine tannins, a seam of lees i accentuated by the acid line and contrasted by the fruit. Flavours of cherry and strawberry, baking spices and plum, carefully selected oak layers and a defining palate squeeze of flavour. Delicious, taut and new still with best drinking from 2028 through 2035+.
