Sandymount Pinot Noir Brandy, Dunedin

An intriguing bouquet, one of complexity and depth, classic scents then unique to the idea scents. Wood smoke and blackberry, a layer of tobacco and spice then cherrywood. Youthful. On the palate uncut - there’s an immediate burn from the alcohol that briefly overwhelms the palate, this changes quickly to reveal flavours that mirror the bouquet. With a splash of water the bouquet takes a more fragrant quality with a caramel and wood spice layer frames the berry fruit idea. The biggest change is with the palate texture, a satin-creaminess coats the palate. In a cocktail very good, on it’s I suggest over a single (small) cube of ice.
