Elephant Hill Sea Chardonnay 2023, Hawke's Bay

An intriguing and enticing wine with layers of ripe pomaceous fruits, a light flinty squeeze and flavours of red apple and white peaches. As the wine opens out on the palate the textures from some barrel flavours and acidity frame the core fruit flavours. Fruit and wood tannins along with a plush vanilla custard quality add complexity and breadth across the palate. What I like most about this wine is the understated finesse. A delicious wine with best drinking from mid 2026 through 2031+.
