Manz Cheleiros 2020, Pomar do Espirito Santo, Lisboa, Portugal

Dark purple core with a pink rim, a bouquet rich in dark berries and baked soil ideas. Doris plums and blackberries, some boot polish and flint, violets and fruit spices. The oak signature of toastiness and baked spices adds complexity and power. On the palate - distinctive, dry, a core of black and purple skinned fruits, violet and baking spices. Firm tannins with lots of polish. I like the mouthfeel and finish, it has poise and concentration. A wine best suited to cheeses and richer proteins with best drinking from day of purchase through 2035+.
