Terrace Edge 'Chosen Barrels' Syrah 2020, Waipara Valley

Dark ruby and red core with purple hues lead to a bouquet of dark berries and bracken, there’s a gentle herbal tobacco frame then scents of blackberry and plum then home-made raspberry-jam. Some smoky wood and barrel spices add complexity and intrigue. Dry with nice weight and intensity, the tannins are smooth and integrating well, the acidity carries some power still carrying flavours of berries and spices. A lick of pepperiness and baking spices add further complexity and length. Well made with good drinking from 2025 through 2030.
