A striking bouquet of fresh limes and tropical fruits then as the wine begins to open out in glass the subtle scents of capsaicin' with jalapeno begin to get louder and distinctive. The first sip delivers a wine of power and familiar Sb characters. I leave the wine on the palate for a good twenty seconds so the build up spice is noticed though quiet and playful. Second and third sips remind me that the acidity is as bold as the fruit and spice qualities. A new and exciting expression that puts one toe into the next phase of where SB can go without losing sight of the traditional expectations of this classic style from Aotearoa New Zealand.
