Pegasus Bay Pinot Noir 2024, Waipara Valley, North Canterbury

An intriguing bouquet, complex yet closed, youthful and layered yet tightly wound. As the wine slowly opens out in glass the scents of red berries and earth begin to emerge, some mushroom, even truffle moments then dark raspberry and gently smoky wood and lees layers. The sense of dried herb and site also begin to show with the use of some whole bunch adding complexity and depth. A dry wine touches the palate with an immediate state of complexity and texture then red berry fruits and some wood and earth smoke of baking spices and stone. Delicious, intriguing, lengthy and delicious. Best drinking from 2029 through 2039. Rather excellent value.
