Wet Jacket Syrah 2024, Central Otago

Hues of dark purple and ruby with a vibrant pink rim lead to scents of ripe blackcurrant and compote, dark plums and boysenberry, lots of mineral and earth, fresh red berries and baking spices. Some wood smoke and a gun-flint leesy lift. Dry and delicious, great textures and mouthfeel of dark berries framed by firm tannins and backbone of acidity. Flavours are persistent and fresh, a taut wine with a youthful structure. Well made and lengthy, vibrant and textured with best drinking from 2028 through 2034+.
