Hans Herzog 'Spirit of Marlborough' 2018, Marlborough

A wonderful bouquet with a core of shape and form, complexities from bottle integration, ripe fruit and perfect blending composition. Aromas and flavours of myriad red berries led by blackberry then olive, blackcurrant and preserved plums then baking spices of clove and nutmeg and vanilla. There’s a seam of old roses, some leather then layers of complexity from the use of barrel, lees and time. Tannins are in abundance yet easily dissolved on the palate and the acid line remain the key carrier of flavour adding its own texture and palate length. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2030+.
