Matawhero Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2025, Gisborne

Very bright and youthful appearance with hues of pale yellow, green and silver leading to a bouquet and palate of fresh citrus and apple then stone fruits and a stony clay mineral soil complexity. A dry wine on the palate with medium+ weight, plenty of mouthfeel from the super fine almost gently flinty quality and acidity. There’s also a fine lees and gentle voice of oak that builds flavour and complexity with each new taste. Balanced and well made with best drinking from mid to late 2026 through 2030.
