Bannock Brae Goldfields Pinot Noir 2022, Central Otago

A delicious wine ready to drink from day of purchase. Aromas and flavours of dark cherry and boysenberry, there’s a layer of vanilla and toasty wood spice, roasted nut and barrel smoke. Youthful and tense as the wine touches the palate, tannins and acidity deliver this tension and the idea of dried spice reflecting the Central Otago landscape emerges as the wine warms in glass, while the fruit core offers contrast and a softer side to the wine. A very ‘moorish’ example with length, just the right level of complexity and charm, and food friendly as well.
