Black Estate 'Netherwood' Pinot Noir 2023, North Canterbury

A complex and detailed bouquet with layers of ripe red berry fruits and black currant then flowers, dried herbs and savoury spices. Very floral too with wild flowers and violets then a gentle earth and wood-smoke complexity. Dry, taut, tense and poised wine on the palate. Flavours are a reflection of the bouquet with fresh red berry fruits framed by tannins and acidity, a savoury complexity, poise then release of flavour. Complex and new, well made with best drinking from 2028 through 2038.
