Lime Rock 'Kota' Pinot Noir 2016, Central Hawke's Bay

‘Kota’ means 'shell’ in Te Reo Maori, in this case an oyster shell. A bouquet of readiness with scents of complexity and bottle age, sweet preserved roses, cedar and strawberry compote. A mix of wood spices, nut and touch of leather add complexity an breadth. On the palate, a wine that is ready with flavours of preserved red berries and plums, some compote and layers of baking spices. Firm-ish tannins and acidity set a decent structure in place and mouthfeel for the fruit to bathe in. Well made, still developing with best drinking accompanied with food from day of purchase through 2028.
