Champagne Lombard Brut Nature Grand Cru Verzenay, NV, France

The breadth and depth that Pinot Noir fruit can bring to a wine is clear in the bouquet with a richness and varietal core of mineral, a sense of site, and variety. Though the autolysis is bold and loud, this does not detract from the apple and white peach scents, a note of miso and salt then citrus. After the flourish of mousse settles the flavours of Pinot Noir return with soil first then fruit. Flavours overall mirror the bouquet, high acidity along with some poise, very dry. I did notice the effervescence of this wine did begin to fade quicker than I expected. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2028.
