Trinity Hill Homage Syrah 2020, Hawke's Bay

This is an OMG! wine, one that should make you stop, slow down and enjoy every scent and texture. Deep ruby purple at the core, opaque and very bright. A captivating bouquet with scents of richness and power, ripeness and complexity, depth and breadth. Fruit aromas of dark currants and baked red berries, old dried raspberry flesh, black currant, plum preserves and five spice. As the wine opens out it reveals a layer of baked field mushroom and stony soils, a whisper of sweet truffle and ageing meat. Equally complex on the palate, dry, taut, youthful and complex. Fruit flavours mirror the bouquet then layers of baking spices and five spice, a hint of sweet black pepper then barrel spices and moments of wood smoke. An abundance of tannins - ripe and long, and a backbone of acidity. A delicious wine that will reward those who can wait. That said it is excellent today as well. A wine to invest in and quickly so. Best drinking likely from 2026 through 2040. An excellent and worthwhile investment wine.
