Jiminez-Landi El Corralon Sierra de Gredos 2021, Spain

You would be forgiven to think that this might be Pinot Noir on the nose with the dark cherry and red fruits compote, but there’s also plums and dark cherries in the mix then vanilla and clove wood spice layers. Youthful appearance and quite primary with the fruits. On the palate it’s not Pinot Noir like, but does have noticeable warmth from the alcohol and more firmness to the tannins. Plums and dark cherry flavours return, moderate oak layers with an earthy. There may be some wild red fruit flavours that come to mind. This wine does have some higher alcohol. It’s lovely and delicious, but perhaps needs food. Best drinking from 2023 through 2029.
