Stonecroft Chardonnay 2018 Hawkes Bay

Lots of toasty smoky aromas laced with yellow stone fruits of peach, apple and apricot, sweet oak spices and a decent complexity. Dry on the palate, just touching the full-bodied marker. A tense and youthful core of flavours led by grapefruit, stone fruits and apple. Brazil nut, smoked butter and vanilla follow - so no mistaking the impact of oak. This will settle and integrate if you allow time in cellar. Medium+ acidity and alcohol. Overall a lovely wine, well made and immediately enjoyable. Best drinking from early 2020 through 2024+.
