Ruru
Ruru Chardonnay 2018, Central Otago
This is the first release of the Ruru Chardonnay - aromas and flavours are both familiar and intriguing - the nut and burnt butter with vanilla and toast of oak leads the bouquet - quickly followed by aromas of roasted yellow stone fruits and a touch of banana. On the palate - warm, generous, fruity, youthful and dry. A natural wild flower and thyme note as well as the stone fruit flavours and vanilla all speak separately in this still young wine. A light lees component emerges on the finish with a return to the oak messages. I suggest you enjoy this wine with some local cheeses or chicken risotto with parmesan. Drinking from today and through 2022.
