Craggy Range for the Fourth Year in a Row is Named in the World’s Most Admired Wine Brands.

Thursday, 30th March, London – In the 13th edition of the annual Drinks International'  World's Most Admired Wine Brands', Craggy Range has been named number 29 in the world, moving up one place from last year. A fantastic achievement not only for Craggy Range, but also an endorsement for Hawke's Bay and Martinborough wines.

Drinks International editor Shay Waterworth said: "The World's Most Admired Wine Brands is an elite club to be part of and without doubt an authority regarding the industry's most revered brands."

"The 50-strong ranking is voted for by an Academy of leading Masters of Wine, sommeliers, wine buyers, journalists and other industry experts from six continents around the world."

Craggy Range Marketing Manager and family member David T. Peabody said, "All of us at Craggy Range are honoured to be included in the 2023 World's Most Admired Wine Brands top 50. For us, the consistency of placing over the past four years lets us know we are on the right path. We have strived to continuously push the quality of everything we do, from being better farmers to looking after our land and community and obviously the quality of what is in the bottle."

He continues, "There have been a lot of key highlights for us this year, from being the first New Zealand winery to launch on La Place de Bordeaux to releasing our most accoladed vintage to date. We are excited to see what 2023 brings. Craggy Range is in a trust that will see it remain within our family for generations to come, so recognition like this is crucial to understanding that we are heading in the right direction."

Drinks International publisher Justin Smith added: "We are delighted to reward the achievements of the most admired wine brands on the planet. Congratulations to the highest-ranked wineries in Europe, North America, South America, Australasia and Africa & the Middle East, and all of the brands featured in our definitive guide. We look forward to continuing to celebrate the successes of exceptional wine producers long into the future."

Who came first?

Antinori has been named The World’s Most Admired Wine Brand 2023 and it is the first Italian winery in history to top the list.

Antinori impressed the Academy with its high quality and consistency and it simultaneously earned the Most Admired Wine Brand in Europe award.

Argentina’s Catena Zapata, winner in 2020, took the runner’s-up spot and therefore collected the Most Admired Wine Brand in South America award, while veteran of the list Penfolds completed the podium. The Australia-based brand therefore retained its title as the Most Admired Wine Brand in Australasia.

The Drinks International Annual Brands Report 2023 has launched, offering the bar industry a picture of the buying habits of the world’s best bars.

Predicated on a global survey of a 100-strong sample of elite worldwide venues – those which have been nominated or won international awards – the Report launches digitally today.

Respondents - bar owners, bar managers and head bartenders – were asked to describe their buying habits when it came to more than 20 categories of spirits, mixers, wine and beer, with data collated to form leagues of the Best-selling brands. While the Report’s Trending lists offer an indication of the brands that are hot right now.

Hamish Smith, editor of the Brands Report, said: “With the pandemic now fading in the rear-view mirror, trading in the world’s best bars has settled back to an even footing. But is there a legacy? What are the new-normal consumption trends and are new economic pressures again changing the way bars do business? Well, the Brands Report looks to answer these questions.

“Largely we found the same brands as before prospering in the elite bar channel – particularly in the largest categories - with some natural year-to-year variation in league positions. But in the lower volume categories, we have uncovered some interesting narratives. Cachaça’s craft revolution appears to be underway, with its league now mostly populated by artisanal, not industrial, brands. Over in Pisco, there is now a 50-50 split of Peruvian and Chilean producers, while in mezcal Del Maguey looks to have finally found a competitor in Siete Misterios.”

The perennial Brands Report features The Best Selling Spirits and Best-selling Classic Cocktails – always the most read article on Drinksint.com – graduate to their own supplement this year. The Cocktail Report launches in May.

In their stead is a revisit of our All-time Leagues - exploring the brands to have performed best over the Report’s 14 years - and a new analysis into the best performing spirits groups.
