Blackenbrook Family Reserve Pinot Noir 2017, Nelson

Varietal and fruity then layers of white smoke and toasty French barrel begin to layer in adding complexity and depth to the bouquet. Engaging and ready. On the palate - tense and youthful with firm textures and medium+ acidity. Flavours of red and dark cherry, moments of plum and raspberry then toasty barrel spices with vanilla and clove. Well made with a decent finish. Still needing some cellar time to calm the tannins and wild dried herb flavours. Best enjoyed with food through 2021 then on its own till 2025.
